Well today was a southern day as we ventured through the rest of New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. We left Santa Rosa, New Mexico around 11:30 and headed east. There aren't too many pictures on the website since allot of the scenery was very similar. Although, we did take some interesting pictures of signs and places that are not common to us Californians, such as the picture of an auto shop called "Bozos." We needed to fix a tire because we went over a deep pot hole in New Mexico and it created a bubble on the tire. We were advised that Bozo's was the place to go. Unfortunately, Bozo was closed, we think he was napping in the back. But that was not a problem as we found a different shop that was open down the road that was able to assist us and get us back on the road safely. While we were waiting to get the tire fixed Sara went across the street to get us some lunch from a Mexican restaurant called "La Cita." All we can say is that this sleepy town was a very different place than what we are used to in the very populated Southern California.
The weather is holding up, but it is cold. You can see the ice on the side of the roads as you drive, but the roads are clear, safe and the drivers are courteous. We stopped at our famous "Best Western" hotel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The people here are nice and welcoming. And the rate is great!!! Premium gas on average has been around $1.85 - $2.05 throughout the country, so California is right on the average. Well Day 4 should bring us into Chicago, so we will keep you posted.
